Adams Announces Traffic Grant Awarded to Pike County
HARRISBURG - A $19,080 grant has been awarded to Milford Borough, Pike County, to purchase and install electronic speed display signs at the four main entrances to the borough, Rep. Joe Adams (R-Pike/Wayne) announced today.
“Obeying speed limits and not driving aggressively improves safety by reducing the probability and severity of crashes,” Adams said. “Speeding not only endangers the life of the speeder, but all of the people on the road around them, including law enforcement officers and pedestrians. I’m pleased Milford Borough is receiving this money and investing in the safety of our community.”
Grant dollars, from the Automated Red-Light Enforcement (ARLE) through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, is supplied by fines from red light violations. State law specifies that projects improving safety, enhancing mobility and reducing congestion can be considered for funding. In total, $15 million will be going to 32 municipalities statewide to fund 36 safety projects.
The 139th Legislative District is comprised of parts of Pike and Wayne counties, consisting of the townships of Blooming Grove, Dingman, Greene, Lackawaxen, Milford, Palmyra (Pike), Shohola, Westfall, Cherry Ridge, Dreher, Lake, Lehigh, Paupack, Palmyra (Wayne), Salem, South Canaan and Sterling, and the boroughs of Matamoras, Milford and Hawley.
